HORSHAM were undone by the predatory instincts of Lewes striker Scott Taylor tonight in a pre-season friendly.

Althouth the Hornets went down 3-0 to the Blue Square Premier new boys, all three coming from Taylor, John Maggs' men may feel they gave a good account of themselves.

The visitors competed well all over the pitch but the superior sharpness and cool finishing from the hosts was the difference.

The closest Horsham came to scoring saw Lee Farrell draw a fine stop, and Lee Carney's cross touched on to the post.

89 mins: Yinka Salaam flashes a left foot volley wide after some patient Horsham build up.

87 mins: Fenelon blasts well wide from range with a trademark thunderbolt.

Winding down here, Jack Page is slowly moving further up the pitch in a bid to change things.

82 mins: Cox races away down the left and curls a shot right at Seuke.

78 mins: Eldridge whips over a cross from the lft, and as it drops, Jack Page nick a shot off Baitup's toes as he prepares for an overhead kick.

76 mins: Lee Carey is invited to shoot from range, but he doesn't really catch it, and the effort flies well wide.

70 mins: Cox jinks onto the edge of the box and fires over, more changes. Matt Ford comes on for Joe Keehan for Lewes and Ian Payne replaces Carney for Horsham.

Lewes are impressively atrong at the back, two Eldridge cxrosses from the left are repelled with ease.

65 mins: Horsham know all about Chamal Fenelon's brute strength from last year, but he is still allowed to turn and shoot inside the box, the effort goes wide though.

63mins: Yinka Salaam comes on for his customary substitute appearance, for Jamie Lovegrove.

62 mins: Horsham will be glad to see the back of Taylor, replaced by Stefan Cox.

61 mins: GOAL. Horsham are at sixes and sevens at the back, a poor header falls for Scott Taylor who coolly lobs the on rushing Seuke to complete his hat trick.

59 mins: Carney's deep cross is flicked onto the bar by Lewes keeper Ruddy and it's scrambled behind - that's as close as Horsham have come in this half.

57 mins: Taylor could have done better with a header when Wallis-Taylor whips in a cross from the left.

55 mins: Sam Jeremiah is given his chance to impress, coming on for the injured Gary Charman. It appears there is nothing there to worry Hornets fans, Charman waked off without too much discomfort.

All Lewes at the moment, they just had a 90 second spell of unbroken possession without really doing anything.

52 mins: A good start to the second half from the hosts. Taylot just fails to get a strong enough touch from a yard out, and Rowland
blasts over from range.

50 mins: Eldridge tidies up at the back for Horsham after some superb work down the left by Wallis-Taylor.

Numerous changes on either side after the break - highlights include Chamal Fenelon, Dean Ruddy and Ollie Rowland on for Lewes, and for Horsham Mark Knee and Liam Baitup, I'll try to name as many of the changes as I can throughout the half.

HORSHAM have struggled to make much of an impression on the Lewes raerguard in the first half against Lewes tonight.

Paul Seuke has been the busier of the two keepers, and Rooks striker Scott Taylor has taken two good goals to put his side two ahead at te break.

Lee Farrell went closest for the visitors, forcing a smart low save from Rikki Banks.

42 mins: Charman snatches at an effort which loops over the bar after emerging from a clash with Craig Richards in possession.

39 mins: Tom Lyons makes space for himself and forces a near post save from Seuke from a tight angle.

38 mins: Carey is having a bit of a purple patch, he spots Banks off his line from 35 yards but directs the chip narrowly wide.

37 mins: A tidy piece of football sees Carney find midfield partner Carey with a through ball, and the early shot misses the far post by inches.

34 mins: Joe Keehan is given the freedom of Lewes to line up a shot from range, which dips just over Seuke's bar.

32 mins: GOAL. Lewes are definitely the sharper of the two sides. Taylor races onto a ball into the left channel, calmly lifts the ball over Seuke and lobs his effort home.
Lewes 2-0 Horshasm

In the balmy conditions, the players use an injury break to down as much water as possible, Matt Geard is the man laid out on the floor after a hefty challenge.

For a friendly, there is some uncharacteristic needle, Lee Carney and Gary Charman have had talkings to from the officials.

23 mins: Lee Farrell does well to roll his man and his low shot is well stopped by Rikki Banks.

21 mins: gary Charman makes a half hearted appeal for a penalty when he runs into Danny Cullip, not a surprise when he was ignored.

Anyone expecting Lewes to be easy pickings in the Blue Square Premier will be sorely disappointed, they have put together some decent patterns of football so far.

15 mins: Seuke saves at the second attempt when Seb Wallis-Taylor get s a touch on Michael Standing's low cross.

13 mins: Confident stuff from Lee Carey, his curling effort from range is deflected behind, better from the visitors.

11 mins: Horsham, in their soon-to-be-ditched light blue away kit, surge down the other end, and Eldridge earns a corner with a deflected effort.

9 min: GOAL. A sustained period of pressure brings its reward for the home side. Scott Taylor rides two challanges and rounds Seuke to slot into an open goal.

8 mins: Former Hornet Matt Geard almost opens the scores, a nice turn and some quick feet on the edge of the box sees him have a shoit well saved low by Paul Seuke.

7 mins: Lee Carney pulls rank at a free kick 30 yards out, but curls it way over.

Horsham look the more composed on the ball - and with Savage up front they have a real livewire.

4 mins: Lee Carey sees an ambitious effort fly well over Rikki Banks' goal.

Lewes are an eager outfit, clearly looking forward to life in the Bluw Square Premier - just a level below league football.

1min: First moment of danger for Horsham, Joe Keehan combines with former YM teammate Tom Lyons to force a Lewes corner.

THREE of Horsham's new signings, plus two hoping for a place in the squad have been named in Horsham's lineup to face Lewes tonight.

Russell Eldridge, Lee Carey and Jack Page feature, while Jamie Lovegrove and Reggie Savage are hoping to impress manager John Maggs.

They will line up against former Hornets Tom Graves and Matt Geard, who have made the post-season switch to the Dripping Pan.

Lewes: Rikki Banks; Anthony Barness, Seb Wallis-Taylor, Danny Cullip, Tom Graves; Craig Richards, Michael Standing, Joe Keehan, Matt Geard; Tom Lyons, Scott Taylor.
