Full time

HORSHAM have been held to a rare 0-0 draw at home to AFC Hornchurch today.

The Hornets were on top for pretty much the entire first 45 minutes, but a combination of a poor final ball and some inspired goalkeeping kept them at bay.

But that gave way to a dire second period where both sides struggled to create - Jacob Mingle saw his curling effort well held by Urchins keeper Dale Brightly, and at the other end Simon Parker almost stole the points when his shot hit the post.

94 mins: Sam Page makes an heroic block to deny Parker with virtually the last kick of the game.

90 mins: Hornchurch enjoying their one purple patch of the game, Mark Janney shoots high and wide from just inside the box.

88 mins: And Hornchurch race up the other end, where Jim Macfarlane heads wide from a free kick.

88 mins: Jean Michel Sigere turns and shoots on the edge of the box, but it's a easy one for Brightly to gather.

84 mins: Horsham sub. Evan Archibald on, Lee Farrell off.

83 mins: Sigere lays a ball into Mingle's path and his curler is well held by Brightly.

79 mins: That's the closest we've got to a goal as Simon Parker grapples for possession in the Horsham area and smashes a shot against the near post.

77 mins: Mark Knee and Kris Lee both need treatment after a clash of heads.

75 mins: Hornchurch take advantage of a Carey loose pass, and Kris Lee fires wide.

73 mins: Booking. Frankie Curley sees yellow for a foul and a bit of a pushing match.

70 mins: Lee Carey's ball causes trouble in the Urchins box, and Brightly needs two attempts to grab it under pressure from Sigere.

The Lardy Boys agree - and as Curley receives some treatment, start to warm up the vocal chords.

Desperately in need of something to lift the match right now, a shot, a controversial decision, something.

It's been incident free in this half so far - Hornchurch are defending stoutly - especially from set pieces.

Again, it's just the final ball that's holding Horsham back - the breakthrough can't be long coming surely?

Hornchurch made two changes at the break - introducing Frankie Curley and Simon Parker, both seem to have bags of pace.

Horsham look as if they have continued where they left off.

We're back underway for the second half - apparently Gary Charman is off to hospital.

HORSHAM have been frustrated during a tough first half at home to AFC Hornchurch today.

The Hornets have dominated possession and had seven attempts on goal in the first period - but have found Urchins goalkeeper Dale Brightly on top form.

New signing Williams Peauroux was given his debut, coming off the bench to replace Gary Charman after 19 minutes.

48 mins: Lee Farrell tries to catch Brightly off his line with an early effort.

44 mins: And after the resulting free kick is half cleared, Sigere curls a shot wide of the post.

43 mins: Booking. Paul Shave sees yellow after sending Mingle tumbling.

39 mins: Booking. Acheampong has his name taken for a challenge on Jim MacFarlane.

All we need is a goal, and it would be no more than Horsham deserve if it goes their way.

33 mins: Eldridge lines up a shot from 20 yards which is comfortably gathered by Brightly.

27 mins: Eldridge's corner just misses Sigere's leap at the near post and as the ball is scrambled away, Brightly falls on Peauroux's shot.

Dare I say it, Horsham look comfortable at the back. Sam Page and Tony Acheampong have the Hornchurch front line on a tight rein.

Execution of some pretty football is all that's letting the Hornets down at the moment.

22 mins: Hornchurch built a bit of pressure, and Dean Green flashes a shot across Rob Tolfrey's goal.

19 mins: Horsham sub. It's an early introduction from the bench for new boy Williams Peauroux, replacing Gary Charman, who left the pitch on a stretcher.

15 mins: Charman has gone down on the edge of the box after a twisting run - he looks hurt and has needed a couple of minutes of treatment.

14 mins: Good save from Brightly at the end of s sumptuous Horsham move. Gary Charman nudges Lee Carey's ball into Lee Farrell's path, and the Hornchurch stopper makes a good block.

13 mins: Jacob Mingle's high cross eventually falls towards Alex Haddow, but the Horsham man is crowded out inside the box.

9 mins: Horsham are making a monopoly of possession - and almost score when Russell Eldridge's shot hits Brightly on the nose and falls for Sigere, who can only nudge the ball back into the keepers' hands.

The ball is racking up the air miles as both sides indulge in a spot of header tennis.

The hosts, with Lee Farrell accompanying Jean Michel Sigere up top, have made a positive start.

3mins: First effort of the game goes Horsham's way, Gary Charman forces Dale Brightly to tip over.

NEW HORSHAM signing Williams Peauroux will start on the bench as Horsham aim to get back to winning ways today.

The Hornets secured the signature of midfielder from Ebbsfleet United yesterday.
