A CLINICAL Horsham thrashed Carshalton Athletic 5-1 today, thanks to a superb second half display.

Lee Carey and Gary Charman had given the Hornets a 2-1 half time lead, but they had been under the cosh for much of the period, and Carshalton were still in it thanks to a goal from Simon Carpenter.

But when Liam Baitup made it 3-1 in the 48th minute, Horsham assumed complete control, and added further goals from Russell Eldridge and Mark Knee - his first in Horsham colours.

88 mins: Stevens' header is tipped over by Seuke, and Graves guides an effort wide at the end of a late spell of pressure.

Colston Avenue is in a stunned silence, apart from a pocket of delierious Hornets fans. They have watched their side clinically dismantle a much fancied Carshalton.

85 mins: Horsham sub: Liam Baitup off, Sam Jeremiah on.

84 mins: GOAL. Lee Carney's hopefull ball for Mark Knee causes a mix up between David Graves and keeper Wilson, which allows Knee to slide the ball into an empty net. Comical stuff.

81 mins: Slight hold up, all the balls have been lost. I blame Andy Howard - never afriad to launch a clearance out of the ground.

80 mins Horsham are winding down now and the hosts are at a loss to find an answer - saying that, Stevens just hit the post in a goal mouth flurry.

76 mins: Carshalton subs: James Evans and David Graves on - Junior Kadi and Liam Collins off.

75 mins: Richard Jolley lashes an effort across Seuke's goal - the Robins striker has barely featured this half.

72 mins: Confidence is up in the Horsham camp. Liam Baitup tries his luck with a 30 yard volley, which sails harmlessly over.

69 mins: GOAL. Fantastic breakaway goal from Horsham, started and finished by Russell Eldridge.
The left back collects the ball inside his half and slips a pass toMark Knee before racing onto Lee Carney's slide rule pass and slotting a calm finish beyond Wilson.

66mins: Looks like the Hornets have weathered the storm - Charman sends a looping header narrowly over Phil Wilson's bar.

65 mins: Almost a great chance for Carey, he mugs Paul Honey and advances to the edge of the box where he can't decide whether to pass or shoot and in the end does neither.

62 mins: Dwaine Clarke's shot is deflected behind, and Horsham scramble the corner clear. Carshalton are looking mencaing again.

61 mins: Maybe the sign of things to come for the remainder of the half. Mark Knee had a one on one, but checked back and thanks to his side sitting back, was outnumbered and lost out.

58 mins: First moment of danger in the half for Horsham as the visitors scramble a corner clear.

53 mins: Booking. Junior Kadi sees yellow for a late tackle on Lee Carey.

The Hornets look to be controlling the pace now they have a two goal cushion, but the Robins willbe sure to thraten at some point.

The home side reacted by piling on the pressure when they went one down early in the first half, how will they cope with going two behind?

48 mins: GOAL. Another perfect start to the half. Alex Haddow's clever throw in is lashed goalwards by Carney. His scuffed shot lands at the feet of Liam Baitup, who coolly slots in Horsham's third.

Both sides are unchanged for the start of the second half - more of the same will suit the Hornets fans.

GOALS at the start and end of the half have given Horsham a 2-1 lead at the break against Carshalton Athletic.

Lee Carey's first minute free kick found a way through a sea of legs to give the visitors an early lead. But Carshalton dominated the first period. The home side were rewarded soon after the half hour when Dean Carpenter brought his side level with a well struck effort.

Horsham have laboured up front, but re-took the lead following a short period of pressure on 43 minutes. Gary Charman was first to Lee Carey's left wing corner to net.

43 mins GOAL: Carey's corner is cleared as far as Carney who has two stabs at it, the second is deflected behind for another corner, which Carey swings in for Charman to slide home at the near post.
Carshalton 1-2 Horsham

Slight hold up here as Lee Carney is treated for a knock, he limps off and Jacob Mingle looks to be readying himself from the bench. But Carney will soldier on.

Horsham are badly in need of inspiration. Knee and Baitup are being marked out of the game, consequenty the midfield have nothing to aim a pass at.

35 mins: GOAL. It has been coming. Junior Kadi's shot is blocked into Dean Carpenter's path and the left back fizzes an 18 yard shot into the bottom corner.
Carshalton 1-1 Horsham.

34 mins: Jolley is released by a quick throw and blasts across the face of goal. Horsham are rocking a bit here

32 mins: Superb cross from Robins right back Simon Cooper, but Stevens can only glance his header at Seuke.

29 mins: Mark Knee goes to withing a whisker of getting on a loose pass in the Athletic box - any sort of contact would be led to a very good chance.

27 mins: Yellow cards. Paul Honey and Lee Carney have to be prised apart when the Hornets midfielder loses a boot in a tackle. Both are booked.

24 mins: A mix up between Eldridge and Seuke gifts Carshalton a corner, they work it short and Stevens just heads over at the near post.

Horsham must have been told to keep it on the deck, nothing's been pumped in Knee and baitup's direction for a short while now.

19 mins: Richard Jolley, a former Horsham target, tees up Junior Kadi, who blazes over for the hosts.

16 mins: Former Hornet Dwaine Clarke cuts inside form the left, but balloons his right foot effort way over.

15 mins: Stevens feeds Liam Collins, who juggles with the ball before sending a weak effort down Seuke's throat.
Seconds later, Horsham break and Gary Charman drags his shot wide. It's wamring up nicely.

Horsham are feeling the absence of target man Archibald - neither Liam Baitup or Mark Knee can keep hold of it against Carshalton's bigger defenders.

Good contest in the stands too - Horsham's lardy boys are bringing out their full back catalogue of songs already, while the Robins fans are a small but loud bunch behind Seuke.

8 mins: Barry Stevens just beats Paul Seuke to Paul Honey's ball, but fires over. The Horsham keeper immediately races out to berate his defence and midfield, who failed to clear their lines.

It's been one way traffic since the goal, Carshalton, kicking up the slope, are desperate to prove they are contenders this season.

Carshalton coming straight back though - Andy Howard has to nick a cross off Richard Jolley's toes.

Will be interesting to see who gets credited for that goal, Gary Charman seemed to claim it, but so far it's Carey's. Bad start to the hosts, who ran out to the strains of an epic version of the Rocky theme.

45 secs: GOAL. A perfect start for Horsham. Lee Carey lines up a free kick from the left which misses everytone and nestles in the Carshalton net.

SOMETHING has to give as two teams with 100 per cent records clash today - and Horsham will have to do without Evan Archibald.

The striker, who has scored three in three has failed to recover from a dead leg sustained against Heybridge on Saturday.

Mark Knee starts up front alongside Liam Baitup, while Jacob Mingle has recivered sufficiently from an ankle injury to take a place on the bench. Lee Farrell is also out with a groin problem.

Carshalton: Phil Watson, Simon Cooper, Dean Carpenter, lewis GOnsalves, Matt York, Juior Kadi, KLiam Collins, Paul Honey, Barry Stevens, Richard Jolley, Dwaine Clarke.

Subs: James Evans, David Graves, Danny Elgar, Antonio Simeone, Stuart Searle.

Horsham: Peul Seuke, Jack Page, Russell Eldridge, Andy Howard, Sam Page, Lee Carney, Lee Carey, Gary Charman, Alex Haddow, Mark Knee, Laim Baitup.

Subs: Sam Jeremiah, Jacob Mingle, Ian Payne, Shane Graham, Rob Frankland.
