INJURED Horsham defender Eddie French has targeted a return to action before the end of the season.

French suffered a broken leg, a dislocation and extensive ligament damage in last week's 2-1 win against Staines Town, and underwent surgery to insert pins into his leg at the weekend.

French commented: "I think it's too early to tell really. I would like to come back this season. It has only just begun, we have got nine months to get back. But I don't think until we take the plaster off you can tell what the damage is to the ligaments.

"There must be some sort of damage, if there isn't, I must be very lucky. If I can get back early, that's great."

"I am gutted, it was only the second game of the season. I felt good in pre-season and felt fit, I was enjoying the game against Staines and I was more gutted than anything."
