LEA COOPER has set his sights on the European Tour after holding off a second round charge to win the Sussex Professional Championship last week.

Foxbridge Golf Club professional Cooper lifted the Bill Watts trophy after carding a two over par total for the 36 holes in testing conditions at West Hove last week.

Now, Cooper, 29, hopes to join the cream of the continent's golfers by coming through the notoriously tough qualifying school at the end of the season. He has already tasted life on the Tour, having qualified for this summer's French Open.

"It's one of the big four events in the Sussex calendar and is a good one to win," Cooper commented. "It feel great to be champion and it's really good to win one of them big ones, especially with the weather being as bad as it was, it makes you a bit more grateful that you can still play good golf in the conditions."
