PARTRIDGE Green Cricket Club celebrated as their most prolific batsman of all time scored his 20,000th run for the club at home to Goring-by-sea thirds.

John Tudhope scored the one run he needed to reach this milestone in his 41st season for the club. No other player has even gone close to reaching the figure.

It was a champagne moment, savoured by all, but it did not deter Tudhope from the job in hand as he went on to score 41 in a Partridge Green total of 173/8. Sam Garman accelerated the scoring rate with a belligerent 58 before he was run out.

In reply Goring several times looked as though they might overhaul Green's total but wickets from Garman, Laker, Eely and Howick pegged them back and they were finally all out when Garman, bowled their last man out off the last ball to give the Green a seven run victory.

In addition to the runs he has scored since 1968 (at an average of 29.17), Tudhope has also taken 820 wickets at an average of 12.51 with his left arm spin bowling.
