HORSHAM Blue Star Harriers will have their sights set on glory at this weekend's Sussex Track and Field Championships.

A growing number of young athletes from the Broadbridge Heath-based club are tipped for success at the championships in Crawley on Saturday and Sunday.

Pole vaulter Lucy Stickland, all rounder Natalie Burgess, high jumper Joe Kent, runner Johanna Spannagl and javelin thrower Joe Waller are all tipped to do well, with a gold medal firmly in their ambition.

Even though the track and field championships are presitigious, coach mick Cole believes a true indication of the athletes' development will be the County Schools championships.

He said: "The first indication of where they are for many of them will be at the schools, by the time that happens in June they will be up against other athletes who might be involved i other sports at this time of year.
"What a lot of them want to achieve here is the entry standard for the National Schools Finals."
