A NEW drop-in centre opens on Friday March 28 at Findon village.

The Lighthouse at the Village Hall will be open between 1-3.30pm.
The Lighthouse is a new drop-in centre available for everyone in the parish of Findon, Clapham and Patching providing both spiritual and practical support.

It is hoped that The Lighthouse will be somewhere for people of all ages to meet new friends, for example before picking up children from school.

Visitors can have a cup of tea or coffee and a scone with jam, and have a chat with Findon's friendly parish priest, Father Roger Crosthwaite.

Following on from her success with Women of Light' (100 plus women at every Washington meeting), Karen Molyneux is joining forces with Father Roger for this new initiative aimed at serving the village communities.

Karen explained: "We have a team of handy men/women available to carry out small repair jobs, volunteer gardeners, people to assist with filling in forms, and trained counsellors if you need to share a problem. All matters will be treated in the strictest confidence."

Father Roger is excited about this new community outreach project: "We have a wonderful team of generous volunteers willing to help in so many ways. I am sure there are many people within our parish who perhaps need help in little ways, and The Lighthouse can put them in touch with suitably skilled volunteers," he said.

The Lighthouse is a voluntary organisation, although donations would be gratefully received and contributed towards church funds.

Many shops remain open on Bank Holiday Mondays. Do you think:
They should be open
They should all close
It should be the decision of individual shops
