BURGLARS took the charity box from a pub in Washington soon after midnight on Saturday February 23.

Police were called to The Frankland Arms in London Road at 12.09am.

PC Mick Dowling, of Steyning Police, said: "An occupant of the pub phoned police to say that he thought someone was trying to get in downstairs."

The caller said he could hear a banging noise, and the alarm was going off.

"Police arrived nine minutes later to find that entry had been gained to the pub and the charity box stolen," said PC Dowling.

He said it had been a full RNIB whisky bottle type charity box, but the pub owners did not know how much had been in it.

They should be open
They should all close
