THE police watchdog is to investigate how a woman fell to her death from a bridge.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is to look into how Linda Pope died.
Mrs Pope, 39, suffered massive head injuries when she plunged from the Mill Hill bridge onto the A27 at Shoreham.
She was found by a passing motorist at 4.55am on Friday (August 8) between the A27's junctions with Steyning Road and the Holmbush roundabout.
Mrs Pope, of Mile Oak, was taken to Worthing Hospital by ambulance but died soon afterwards.
Today (August 11) it emerged that the IPCC is to examine the role of the police in the death.
A spokesman for the police watchdog said: "We sent an investigator down to assess the situation and report back on Friday and we are at the moment managing the investigation.
"We are simply trying to find out what happened leading up to to the woman's unfortunate death because we understand she was spoken to by the police before the incident."
