Youths were ‘playing with ambulance’

YOUTHS tampered with an ambulance as it responded to a 999 call in Pulborough.

South East Ambulance Service NHS Trust scrambled the vehicle to Barn House Lane shortly before 8pm on Wednesday last week.

A spokesman for the service said a girl had suffered a trip of some kind and was treated before being airlifted to St Richard’s Hospital in Chichester by the police helicopter - Hotel 900 - suffering from back pain.

He said: “While we were attending it has been reported to police persons had been trying to switch on the sirens and basically acting irresponsibly in and around where the ambulance was parked.”
