With reference to the article ‘Community tea room for village’ West Sussex County Times, May 31. The article about opening a Community Tea Room in the Small Hall at Washington Memorial Hall says, and I quote ‘there are currently no other such services in the village’.
That statement is not true as since October of last year there has been a Community Cafe every Wednesday afternoon in the Large Hall at the Washington Memorial Hall, started and run by a group of volunteer ladies from St Mary’s Church in the village. They serve hot and cold drinks and home made cakes which are baked by volunteers, including me.
There is no charge made but a donation is requested. All money raised, except for a small amount of expenses is donated to local charities or charities with a link to the village.
