My name is Bethany and I am 15 and along with my sister Rosie who is 11 and my brother James who is ten and my Mum, we are writing to see if your readers might help to raise money for the Olive Tree Cancer Support Unit in Crawley, West Sussex.
I know that you must get lots of people asking for prizes but we would be really grateful if you would read the rest of letter and see if you could help us.
On November 20th 2008, we lost our Auntie Joanna to breast cancer. She had battled against it for five years but lost it at the age of 38 and left behind our cousin Ella aged five.
After that Rosie, James and myself decided we wanted to try and do some fund raising in memory of Auntie Jo and with the help of our Mum, set up ‘The Jo Worland Star Fund’ and put on an ‘In The Pink Ball’ at The Green Man in Partridge Green, last year to raise money for Breast Cancer Research and we raised a massive amount.
This year we are raising money for The Olive Tree Cancer Support Unit Centre in Crawley. The centre helps everyone affected and touched by cancer.
When my Auntie died I had no-one to really talk to about how I felt and wish that I could of gone to someone like the Olive Tree Cancer Support Unit as they might of helped me understand why Jo had to die. They receive no funding and just rely on donations.
If we can raise lots of money for them, we hope that lots of people will get support when they are going through such a terrible time. It is not just the person who has cancer that gets affected but also those around them.
This year we are doing another In The Pink Ball and once again it will be in a beautiful pink themed marquee in the garden of The Green Man in Partridge Green on Saturday July 7.
We are trying to come up with some really special prizes for our Grand Auction and I know it’s a lot to ask but just wondered if there is anyone who might be kind enough to donate a wonderful prize to either our lucky dip tombola or our grand auction.
We have had lots of lovely prizes from some very kind people but we are still looking for the ‘Ultimate Auction Prize’ that everyone will bid on. We know it’s a lot to ask in these difficult times but we would be so very grateful if anyone could help us.
There is alot onf information on the Green Man website and we still have a few tickets left if you would like to come.
We look forward to hearing from and thank you so very much just for taking the time to read my letter.
