Policing in safe hands after poll?

So now we have our first Police and Crime Commissioner, businesswoman Katy Bourne.

She was chosen by a mere 4.8 per cent of the electorate of Sussex as first choice, with a further 1.6 per cent making her second preference. What sort of mandate is this?

This post has become overtly political. She is not only a Conservative, but also national chairman of the Conservative Women’s Association.

She is to be assisted by Tory Brad Watson and Lib Dem Andrew Smith.

What does she know about policing? She say her background includes ‘building, managing and selling’ her own company.

Does this really make you feel policing in Sussex is in safe hands for the next four years?
