LETTER: Surprise over charges at tip

Being good citizens we recently took an old bathroom wash basin to the nearest disposal centre, or tip as we used to call it.

We anticipated the payment requirement for a wash basin, being quoted in recent information leaflets as £4. To our surprise we were told it was £4 for the basin and £4 for the pedestal to which it had been attached!

Bearing in mind that most older wash basins will have a pedestal, unlike the modern wall hanging units, the pricing information appears to be lacking in clarity.

We did of course pay up after driving to dispose of said wash basin. Interesting!
