LETTER: Never suitable for Horsham

It’s the best news I’ve heard for ages – the Shelley eyesore, sorry Fountain, is to be pulled down.

The creator Angela Conner is wrong to think it is merely a case of commerce over Art (?).

It was never suitable for a pleasant market town like Horsham, and the people just did not like it, it’s as simple as that.

We have several very tasteful sculptures around the town, like the Swan Walk swans, and Mr Pirie and his donkey cart.

Let’s hope that the council see sense and commission something equally as good as those, preferably that doesn’t need a fortune to maintain it.
