LETTER: Meaning and purpose in life

This week we have seen some amazing pictures from the spacecraft that has flown past Pluto.

It’s an incredible achievement technologically when you think of the time and distances involved.

The spacecraft has now travelled over three billion miles in the nine and a half years since it was launched. That’s about a million miles a day for almost ten years. To me that’s just staggering.

It does give us perspective though. Perspective to realise just how small our planet is in relation to the solar system, how small we are and how great the Creator God is.

I believe that God created this finely balanced and beautiful universe and all creation is designed to point to Him and his existence.

What’s more staggering is that Jesus revealed in his teaching how this All-Powerful Creator God wants a relationship with us through simple faith in Him.

The search for how and why we came to exist, the origins of the universe, continue to drive exploration and discovery.

Science helps us to understand the universe but it’s in knowing God that we find our meaning and purpose in life.
