LETTER: Horrified at rise in council tax

I was horrified to find how high my council tax bill had risen with apparently no more to show for it than last year.

To counter these increases I would expect to find that councillors on both authorities (Horsham District Council and West Sussex County Council) will have their salaries and expenses frozen for a minimum of two tears and a distinct police presence in the town centre for most of the day (foot patrols and mobile units).

Although this would not guarantee a fall in the number of cases of theft or unsociable behaviour it would I’m sure reduce these.

Another item on the agenda/bill was this mysterious Social Care charge which was not mentioned in the Tory manifesto to encourage you to vote for them.

I certainly didn’t and I’m sure many people will oppose it given the chance or is this dictated to us from Westminster?

I hope those in the appropriate positions of power, e.g. Goldsmith and Bourne, reconsider their positions very thoughtfully or disappear from their comfort-zones.
