LETTER: Emergency help

On Saturday, January 28th my car broke down on the A24 about half a mile south of the Washington roundabout.

I would very much like to thank the kind gentleman who pulled up ahead of me to tell me that my car was losing petrol and advised me to get assistance.

Within five minutes of contacting the emergency services the police arrived, placing cones to direct the traffic, and shortly afterwards the fire crew was on the scene. Less than half an hour later my car was towed by another police team along the A24 to a safer location.

After about fifteem minutes a breakdown lorry from Westbrook Motors arrived to tow my car to a garage in Findon for the necessary repair. I also received a courtesy call from them to make sure everything was alright.

My thanks go to everyone who helped me that morning. I commend them all for their kindness, promptness, efficiency and professionalism.
