How will you spend a tenner?

Have your say

The charity fundraising website Localgiving.com, run in partnership with Sussex Community Foundation, launched the Grow Your Tenner campaign this week.

Every one-off £10 donation made to a Sussex charity or community group via the website from September 25 will be matched £ for £ by Localgiving.com. Add in Gift Aid at 25 per cent where eligible and that means a tenner will grow to £22.50!

The match-funding will go on until a UK-wide pot of £500,000 (from the Office for Civil Society) has been distributed.

What’s more, as part of the campaign, when a donor chooses to make a regular £10 donation to a Sussex charity, Localgiving.com will match the first three months, turning £30 into £60 – or £67.50 where Gift Aid applies.

There are nearly 150 Sussex charities online at www.localgiving.com/sussex

Take a look at the list of West Sussex charities and community groups and decide who you’d like to support.

We’d like to see West Sussex groups get as big a slice of that £500,000 as possible.

There’s a spread of ‘causes’ to choose from so you are sure to find one to support close to your heart.

Sussex Community Foundation raises funds for and makes grants to local charities and community groups across East and West Sussex and Brighton and Hove.

We make it easy for Sussex people to give money to local causes close to their hearts and ensure that those donations reach the people that need them.

Since 2006, we’ve given grants totaling over £4m to over 2,000 local charities and community groups.

Most of the grants we give are between £1,000 and £5,000 which make a big difference to the groups that receive them.

We manage funds of money on behalf of Sussex philanthropists and have built a permanent endowment fund that will benefit Sussex people for generations to come.
