AS USUAL on a Sunday morning, North Street in Horsham was strewn with chip boxes, cans, bottles and other litter discarded the night before by visitors en route for the station. I suggested to the council that either a police car is stationed there on Saturday nights or that a TV camera be installed.
I have received no acknowledgement to my letter.
As an alternative, take-away shops might charge extra for meals eaten off their premises.
They apparently regard the surrounding streets as dining extensions with no responsibility for the litter generated nor, as for their shops, any upkeep expenses. Door deliveries would of course be exempt from this charge.
