Horsham concert treat

IF you were unable to attend the Concert at The Capitol Theatre on Saturday night, you missed a real treat.

The Slinfold Concert Band held a “Springtime Concert” in aid of St Catherine’s Hospice and Horsham Hospital League of Friends.

All five soloists played amazingly well especially a piece entitled ‘Demelza’ by Nash, written for the Royal Marines, on the oboe and the two Scottish pieces on the bagpipes. The Band consisted of over 40 players who all played of their very best.

Musical Director is Malcolm Gay and he introduces the pieces with interesting information as well as having done some of the arranging. The Band can next be heard playing in The Carfax (for free!) on Saturday, May 14 2011. They have already been booked for a repeat concert this time next year.
