Business support for search group

Have your say

I am writing to you as a member of the North Sussex Search Team.We are a group of 150 enthusiastic volunteers based in North Sussex who assist Sussex Police when requested.

This may be to search for a missing person, or property which is crucial to a police inquiry.

Each year as many as 5,000 people are reported missing in Sussex, most are soon found safe and well.

However, in some cases a person may be vulnerable and a large number of trained people are needed to help support the police in an organised search to respond quickly and more often to achieve a happy outcome.

Our volunteers are trained to work together, systematically with the police to find missing persons, give first aid and preserve evidence.

Search training exercises are held regularly with the Sussex Police to hone our search and radio communications techniques and use of first aid.

The Search Team is available 365 days a year and having a close working relationship with Sussex Police respond very quickly to their requests for assistance. The team also work together with SUSSAR (Sussex Search and Rescue) teams and The Lowland Dog Search Team within Sussex and adjoining counties in large scale or prolonged searches.

If you are able to provide a small donation or even sponsor a searcher for £10 per year this would really help us with our running costs as we are currently seeking a vehicle to install our equipment in and to be used as our radio control station during searches. This funding would also assist us in updating our radio equipment, printers, mapping software, gazebo etc.Your company name would be included on our currently short list of companies who have kindly donated to help us in our works in the community.

A short list of sponsors are detailed on our website that includes Waitrose supermarkets, Allright Tyres, and more recently Jeffries Farm Car Supermarket.

We really do appreciate the help of local business and understand with the current economic climate the restraints they are all under.

Our website is available at www.nsst.org.uk but should you wish to discuss this matter with me further, would you be good enough to initially contact me by email: michaelcoops@yahoo.co.uk.
