Advice concern

Have your say

I RECENTLY received a notification from a European lottery of the winning of a large sum of euros – for which I have never bought a ticket.

The letter seemed genuine but the sum rather worryingly large so I did what I believed I had always been invited to, I sought the advice of the West Sussex County Council trading standards department.

After reassuring me of the value of their services in recording all such information, they finished with ‘your information is important to us but we are unable to respond to every incident reported’.

They go on to refer me to ‘Consumer Direct who provide the consumer advice service for West Sussex residents’.

That’s as maybe, but Consumer Direct only replies to telephone enquiries and as the original letter needs to be seen (obviously) it is also unable to help.

Where do I go from here?
