Fun day at park for charity

A group of residents from Lower Beeding have organised a family fun day to celebrate the opening of the village's brand new playground '“ with all proceeds going towards Duchenne research charity Harrison's Fund.

Maxine Foster, Stephanie Goate, Jaimie Daniels, Councillor of Lower Beeding Parish Council, Peter Heneghan, John Dunlop and Mark Webber have organised the day which takes place on Saturday July 23 from 2pm. There will be a bouncy castle, stalls, a live band, a BBQ and lots of other fun activities and games for children.

Mum of two, Maxine said: “We are raising money for Harrison’s Fund because our two-year-old son, Austin, was diagnosed with Duchenne in November and we believe in their mission and want to help raise as much money as we can to find better treatments and ultimately a cure for this deadly disease. Our friends had recommended Harrison’s Fund to us and after a lot of research into all the charities we felt that this was the one we wanted to support.

“The plan is to have Austin officially open the park and then we can get the activities underway. We are encouraging families to come along, bring their blankets and picnics and to make an afternoon of it! “

Harrison’s Fund is named after the nine-year-old from Surrey who was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a fatal genetic condition which affects all the muscles in the body, causing them to waste away.

Harrison’s Fund’s goal is to get as much money as possible into the hands of the world’s best researchers, who are working to find a cure for Duchenne.
