A group of young people taking part in the West Sussex National Citizenship Scheme (NCS) have raised over £1,000 in 4 days in aid of The Dame Vera Lynn Trust for Children with Cerebral Palsy (DVLT), based in Five Oaks.

The team, fondly known as ‘Team Jonny’, had just a week to prepare their fundraising events which saw them take to the streets of Chichester busking, perform a flashmob and hold a car-boot and cake sale.

A member of the team, Ayesha Godin, said: “We have had an amazing experience fundraising and are so happy about the total amount we raised”.

Nikki Bishop, regional fundraiser at the DVLT said: “It has been truly inspiring to see such motivated young people not only succeed in reaching their target of raising £200 but to witness their dedication, passion and hard work from the start.”

NCS is open to all 16 and 17 year olds in England to help in building skills for work and life which culminates in a two week project to support the local community.
