Women’s self defence to help teach participants basics

Local martial arts club Horsham Nam Pai Chuan will be hosting a women’s self defence workshop on Saturday, March 5.

The workshop is being run by Jose Manuel, a kung fu instructor with over 11 years martial arts and self defence experience.

There have been a few attacks against women in the Horsham area over the last couple of years, which prompted Jose to run a local self defence workshop for women.

Although none of us expect to come into trouble when walking through a park or on a night out, it’s always good to be prepared in case something like that happens.

Learning some basic self defence skills can help people think about how they can best approach a confrontational situation, and defend themselves.

During the workshop participants can learn the fundamentals of basic self defence and self awareness to protect yourself and stay safe, including: building awareness and avoidance tactics, to avoid confrontational situations, communication and distraction techniques during verbal confrontation, practical techniques to apply during a physical confrontation, and effective striking areas.
