Pulborough captain Seth Wise is still confident his side can avoid an immediate return to Sussex 1 this season.

After a challenging second half to the season, Pulborough are on the brink of being pulled into a head-to-head relegation battle with fellow league newbies Park House.

It’s a great club, we’ve got a good bunch of lads and I am still confident that we’ll get the job done.

A 14-3 reverse at Uckfield on Saturday was Pulborough’s 13th defeat of the season and Park House sit eight points below them, in the final relegation spot with three games left.

Wise said: “In terms of the remainder of the season, my thoughts haven’t changed. We’re still in the driving seat, and we are still in control of our own destiny.

“We have a home game against Hastings & Bexhill on March 21 which is now absolutely key, before a tough trip to Dartfordians and then finally a visit to Park House where both teams could potentially have everything to play for.

“It’s not where we wanted to be, and based on some of our performances it’s not where we should be. But it is what it is, and it makes the end of the season a little more exciting. It’s a great club, we’ve got a good bunch of lads and I am still confident that we’ll get the job done.”
