RUMOURS that Citizens Advice Bureaux in West Sussex are under threat have been quashed.
Claire Armstrong, of the West Sussex CAB Consortium, said many people in the county were concerned and asking where they would go for advice.
These rumours are fed by problems in other parts of the UK, where local authorities have had to cut funding drastically, threatening the existence of many bureaux, she said.
“We are in a very fortunate position in West Sussex - we have received three years’ funding, along with our partners, Shelter, to provide the Community Legal Advice Service, which means the bureaux are safe for another two years – until 2013,” said Claire.
“We have also been able to extend our services and offer new ones, such as community care advice and access to family law solicitors in- house.”
