Seventeen children aged 3 and 4 years old took part in the ‘Holy Innocents Playgroup’ Nativity this year.

The Nativity was held at The Church Of The Holy Innocents, in Southwater and was well-attended, with over sixty parents, friends, relatives and guests, joining together to watch the children tell the Christmas story, by singing Christmas songs set to familiar nursery rhyme tunes.

The Vicar, Rev. Dr. Kesari Godfrey gave the closing prayer.

Grace Hulcoop Played Mary with Matthew Sambrook as Joseph. Mary was suitably protective over baby Jesus (or baby ‘Gorgeous’ as they called him) and the children finished their performance with a rousing chorus of jingle bells!

The nativity was followed by a fundraiser and refreshments in the nearby Scout H.Q. with activities, raffle and stalls for all.

The total of £200 was raised for Playgroup to offset the cost of the summer outing.
