Horsham’s MP Jeremy Quin joined local schoolchildren to watch a unique play courtesy of fictional family The Drips.

The Facepack Theatre company visited Warnham Primary School to perform its play Are you a Drip? It uses a mix of mime, masks and comedy to highlight the importance of using water wisely and of preventing sewer blockages by not pouring cooking fat, oil and grease down the sink or flushing wet wipes down the toilet.

After the play, Mr Quin said: “I’m delighted that Southern Water is running this initiative in our schools. The children were really engaged in learning more about how to save water.

“We all learned how small changes can make a huge impact on the amount of water that we use and the show got that message across in a fun way.”

Head teacher Jill Costello said: “The children all thoroughly enjoyed this creative production and will no doubt take home its important messages to share with their parents and, in time, with their own children too.

“Thank you Southern Water for giving us this fantastic opportunity and thank you to the Facepack Theatre for such a wonderful performance – it was brilliant.”

Saving water is especially important now that nearly all households across the South East have a water meter. The Drips tell children simple ways to save water in the home such as turning off the tap when cleaning your teeth and taking a shower instead of a bath.

The Drips have toured the region with their water-efficiency show for 17 years and have already performed in 23 schools so far this year.
