Warm Front Scheme re-opens for new applications

GET in quick if to apply for a Warm Front grant is the message from Horsham District Council.

The Government’s Warm Front scheme installs insulation and heating improvements to make homes more energy efficient.

The scheme offers heating and insulation improvements worth up to £3,500 (£6,000 for oil central heating) for eligible households.

As a result of the Government’s Spending Review, the Warm Front grant pot has been reduced and will be allocated on a first come first saved basis. Although the warmer weather is approaching, it is important that residents who think they may be eligible for a grant to improve the energy efficiency of their homes apply early.

The scheme now has a new set of eligibility criteria. To qualify for Warm Front grant a person must live in their own home or rent privately and the property must have a SAP rating* of 55 or under (this will be assessed at the beginning of the technical survey). A householder or their spouse must be in receipt of a specified means tested benefit.

A SAP rating is the UK national standard for calculating the energy performance of buildings.
