VIDEO: Zombies break UK record at Tulleys Farm, but miss out on world record

Tulleys Farm Shocktober Fest Scream Park are claiming the UK record for the most zombies in one place, but have missed out on setting a new world record.

Showing tremendous dead-ication a total of 2113 zombies from around the UK massed at the Tulleys Farm Shocktober Fest Scream Park, near Crawley on Saturday 6th October.

Despite a fantastic turnout from the living dead, Guinness World Records adjudicators announced that the world record had not been broken and that the current record of 4093 zombies set in New Jersey USA on 30 Oct 2010 still stands.

Says Stuart Beare, “The zombies of Britain did us proud but in the end sadly it wasn’t enough to set a new world record. We still had zombies arriving but it was clear we were not going to break the world record. However our admission records show that we had 2113 zombies on site which we think is a new UK record.”

“It was a fantastic night and I’d like to thank all the enthusiastic zombies who turned out to help try to break the record. There was a tremendous atmosphere at the Shocktober Fest Scream Park and the zombies made the most of the haunted rides and attractions.”

Celebrity zombies including Shane Ritchie who plays Alfie Moon in Eastenders and Alan Ford who stars in the latest horror comedy film release Cockneys vs. Zombies were there to lend their support to the world record attempt.

Ben Backhouse, records manager at Guiness World Records Ltd, who was adjudicating on the night said: “Unfortunately they fell short of the record, but this is certainly one of the more interesting record attempts I have attended.”

Sussex Newspapers’ Head of News Mark Dunford, who was made up as a Zombie for the evening by a make-up artist, said: “It was a shame we didn’t break the record but it was great fun and there were some very imaginatively dressed Zombies.”

The world record attempt was part of the preview night for Shocktober Fest 2012.

This event is held at Tulleys Farm every year and this year attractions include the faamous Haunted Hayride, Twisted Maze, Dr Pague’s Trail of Terror, The Cellar Haunted House, Creepy Cottage, and Hell-ements,

Shocktober Fest 2012 runs from now until November 3.
