Thomas Williams, 17, from Christ’s Hospital and James Sear, 17, from the College of Richard Collyer took first prize in the region’s Young Start-Up Talent competition.

The entrepreneurial couple now have the opportunity to launch their business idea Recyclabook – which will allow students to post used textbooks to them and receive a guaranteed payment within 10 days. The books will then be re-sold onto next year’s students online.

Speaking at the grand final staged at the Copthorne Gatwick Hotel last Thursday evening, James said: “It feels amazing to get this and it’s great to grasp such an opportunity.”

Thomas and James’ £50,000 prize includes all the business services a new start-up requires, including accounting, legals, training, mentorship, free banking, IT and publicity - all donated by top sponsor companies in the region, including the West Sussex County Times.
