Have your say

Instead of speeding through a village, why not leave two minutes earlier, observe the speed limit and arrive at the same time?

That is the simple idea proposed by Southwater man Peter Handley, 63 - and it has turned from an idea to a campaign backed by Horsham police and West Sussex County Council.

Peter originally noted down the basis of what became ‘Two minutes for Southwater’ in response to a county council questionnaire.

He said: “I am a little bit amazed really.

“I thought I had stopped having any effect for good, but these people are all happy to do this and really want to involve the community.”

Police representatives are in Lintot Square, Southwater, until 3pm today (Tuesday October 29) to raise awareness of various police projects.
