A man told this week how he was stabbed twice and kicked in the head during a brutal attack in Horsham Park which left him unconscious.
Three men have now been jailed for the terrifying assault on Nikolay Minchev, who said he feared the attackers were trying to kill him.
The 30-year-old Bulgarian, who had only been in the UK for seven days, suffered stab wounds to his back from a broken bottle, a broken wrist and bruises and grazes all over his body as he made his way home from the Chameleon Late Bar on July 22 last year.
Speaking exclusively to the County Times, the victim said: “If it wasn’t for that policeman finding me, I would be dead.”
The three criminals - two from Horsham and one from Henfield - were sentenced to a total of six years and five months in prison.
Sentencing, Recorder Simon Blackford told them on Thursday September 20: “Each of you played very different parts in what happened, but the attack in which you all participated consisted of lashing out at Mr Minchev, battering him to the ground, and once he was on the ground he was repeatedly punched.
“It must have been terrifying for him, although he lost consciousness quite quickly.”
