HORSHAM paid tribute to fallen heroes at a moving ceremony at the war memorial in the Carfax to mark Armistice Day.
At the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, a poignant two minute’s silence was held to remember the heroes of war, past and present.
A bugler sounded the Last Post, and a large crowd including all 200 pupils from St Mary’s CE Primary School stood quietly as Horsham paid its respects.
David Copestake, chairman of the Horsham Branch of the Royal British Legion. read the Exhortation before Claire Vickers, chairman of Horsham District Council, laid a wreath of poppies.
Pupils from St Mary’s then planted twelve remembrance crosses by the war memorial and respectfully bowed their heads.
