Owner of the shop, Glenn Fuller, explained: “It went really well, but was incredibly hard work.

“Through the donation boxes we raised £191 with the face painting and we served 577 fish suppers which raised £288.50 and it all goes straight to the Fishermen’s Mission. They put their lives on the line it’s a very dangerous occupation and without them I wouldn’t have been in business for 20 odd years.

“I normally have a donation box and present a cheque but this year thought we’d make an event of it.”

Fish Friday is the Fishermen’s Mission’s biggest national fundraising day. with fish and chip shops, fishmongers and supermarkets across the country invited to support the cause on the day, which last year raised over £35,000.
