Crates Local, a locally and ethically-sourced produce store in the Carfax, Horsham, opened early this morning (Aug 19).
An unanticipated ‘flurry’ of customers walked through its doors shortly following its unofficial opening this morning.
Pj Aldred, who runs Horsham Markets and Crates Local, said: “We were ahead of schedule so we opened up the door this week thinking it would be nice and calm but there was just a flurry of customers coming in.”
She added: “The common theme [from the customers] is how lovely it is to have local produce in the centre of town all week.
“We have sold a lot of fruit and veg, apples have gone down very well, and eggs and chutneys too.”
Crates Local also sells artisan bread, dairy and meat products, patisserie, condiments and confectionary.
The store, situated in the Carfax near Waitrose, is open six days a week, from nine to five on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and from nine to six on Thursdays and Fridays.
