Joshua, 26, said: “Although having a freezing cold bucket of water thrown over your head is never going to be a pleasurable experience, I was very happy to help shine a spotlight on two very worthy causes.”

The worthy causes he speaks of are MND Association, which provides support to people affected by Motor Neurone Disease; and Macmillan Cancer Support, which funds cancer care services across the UK.

Joshua has decided to make a £6 donation to Macmillan.

“Macmillan Cancer Support provide valuable support to those most in need of it and any funds are crucial for the cancer sufferers it supports.”

Harley, 22, has donated £5 to MND Association as his contribution.

He said: “Everybody seems to be doing the Ice Bucket Challenge - it’s great that the charities involved are getting so much exposure.”

In their attempt to get more people involved in the challenge that has sent an icy wave across the globe, they have nominated all the County Times readers.

“I hope our readers take up their nomination and get soaked for charity too,” Harley added.
