There were smiles all round last night at the County Times Community Awards as Horsham’s unsung heroes were rewarded for their dedication to the area.
The annual award ceremony celebrates individuals in the area who do a lot of hard work to make sure this district is a special place to live.
16 different groups, charities and individuals from across the district received their awards at a packed Capitol theatre, in North Street, and most were left feeling ‘overwhelmed’ and ‘gobsmacked’ with the joy of winning.
Highlights of the evening included a heart warming tale of how a South East Coast Ambulance Service team saved a Billingshurst man’s life and the roar of support from members of Colgate Primary School as one of their teachers picked up the Outstanding Teacher award.
There was also an extra special award for the Royal British Legions Poppy Appeal organiser Dianne Loates who won the WSCT Achievement award for her hard work in making the Horsham Poppy Appeal so successful.
