Four people who were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after man was found with stab wounds in a block of Horsham flats have been bailed, police have said.

Officers said a man knocked on the door of a flat in Burnham Place, Park Terrace East at around 1.30am on Wednesday (June 8) covered in blood and bleeding from his head.

He was rushed to Royal Sussex County Hospital where he still remains in a critical condition.

Detective Chief Inspector Jon Hull said: “This man is an extremely serious condition so we have not been able to speak to him or establish who he is.

“We have no information about where he has been before he knocked on the door of the flat or what happened to him. He is a white man, slim and wearing a black fur-hooded jacket. Do you recognise the description of this man who might have been in the area during the evening?

“We are appealing to anyone who might have been in the Burnham Place or Park Terrace East area of the town from 9pm on Tuesday (June 7) and seen anything which could help us with our enquiries.”

Police said a 50-year-old man, a 34-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man from Horsham and a 30-year-old man from Pulborough were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

They have all been bailed until August 12, officers added.
