Try-scoring skipper Billy Twelvetrees lifted the European Challenge Cup with Gloucester at Twickenham Stoop on Friday night.
The England international, from Wisborough Green, scored his side’s only try in their 19-13 win over Edinburgh.
The former Weald School pupil and Horsham and Pulborough colt helped the Aviva Premiership side to their first trophy for four years.
In front of 6,000 of their own fans it was a nervy end for the Gloucester faithful who saw their side finish the match with 13-men after Twelvetree’s 11th-minute try.
He said: “Our fans have been through some pretty tough times in the last couple of years - we’ve played some horrendous games. So this is massive for them and for us.”
