UPDATE: Steyning woman who died after car crashed into ditch named

Police have named the Steyning woman who died after a car crashed into a ditch north of Partridge Green on Monday (February 9).

She is Alexis Howgill, 82, of Castle Lane.

Mrs Howgill was a passenger in a Jaguar X-type estate car which crashed on the B2135 Needs Hill at midday on Monday (9 February). She died at the Toual Sussex County Hospital in Brighton on Wednesday evening (February 11).

Her 86-year-old husband remains in a serious but stable condition at the same hospital, police added.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses. Anyone who saw what happened, or noticed the Jaguar being driven shortly before it left the road, can email collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or phone 101, quoting Operation Rogate.
