Two cars were involved in a collision in Horsham on Saturday afternoon (January 3), forcing the road to close.

The collision between a Mercedes Sprinter and a Land Rover Defender driven by a 22-year-old man from Crawley happened on the B2237 Worthing Road at about 1.20pm.

Police said a man was arrested for drink-driving offences.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: “A 54-year-old man from Battle was taken into custody where he subsequently provided a negative breath test and was released.

“The driver of the Mercedes van was uninjured, but was taken to Worthing Hospital as he was feeling unwell. He later discharged himself.”

The road was briefly closed both ways following the accident. The incident happened between Tower Hill and Blackbridge Lane.
