Two calls to the A23 for fire crews

FIREFIGHTERS were called to the same section of the A23 southbound between Handcross and Slaugham twice on Wednesday (November 23) evening.

Just before 7pm there was a two-car collision when three people were released before the arrival of the fire crews and two were taken to hospital by ambulance.

At 10.35pm fire crews were called to a van which was severely damaged by fire on the hard shoulder of the road. The fire was treated as accidental.
