A MOTORCYCLIST has died in collision near Cowfold.
The crash happened at 9.35pm on Wednesday June 22 on the eastbound A272 at the junction with Kent Street just east of Cowfold, when a 46-year-old man from Burgess Hill, riding his Ducati 738 motorcycle, was in collision with a white Ford Transit van and left the road, hitting a signpost and tragically dying shortly afterwards.
The van did not stop at the scene but was swiftly traced by police and the driver, a 49-year-old Haywards Heath man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He is currently still in custody.
A Sussex Police spokesman said; “We would like to hear from anyone who was on the A272 near Cowfold at that time and who saw anything that might help our enquiry.
“In particular we would like to trace a car, described only as a ‘family’ type, which is reported also to have been driving east from Cowfold along the A272 just before the collision, and was being followed by a white Transit van.
