Super heroes battling against cancer

‘Calling All Heroes’ took place from Friday 1 to Sunday February 3 and its aim was to help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured by raising as much money as possible for Cancer Research UK.

Cancer Research UK is Tesco’s Charity of the Year and the staff at Pulborough are working hard to help hit the £10 million fundraising target. The money raised by Tesco, its staff, customers and suppliers – will help fund 32 vital early diagnosis research projects across the UK.

Aaron Winter from Pulborough is one of the staff members who took part in the staff dress up and wore a superman costume for his shift. Aaron and his other superhero colleagues raised over £100 for the charity.

Aaron said: ‘This is a fantastic opportunity for staff and customers at Tesco Pulborough to get involved in a fundraising event, have fun and help support Cancer Research UK’s doctors, nurses and beat Cancer at the same time.’

Throughout the partnership Tesco and Cancer Research UK will also be working together to raise awareness about the signs and symptoms of cancer, reduce people’s anxiety about the disease and encourage them to visit the doctor if they notice anything unusual. This will help more people survive cancer and keep more families together.

Every two minutes, someone in the UK is told they have cancer. Money from “Calling All Heroes’ will help support research into earlier diagnosis and detection to help more people survive and keep families together longer.
