Steyning skate park plan withdrawn

PLANS to build a skate park in Steyning have been abandoned by the Parish Council.

At an extraordinary meeting on Tuesday, chairman of the council David Barling announced that the plan to build a skate park on Steyning Football Club’s Shooting Field was to be withdrawn.

The reasons given were that the site was too close to the pitch and would have affected football matches, and he believed that Horsham District Council would not approve it.

Mr Barling said: “No further applications will be made in respect of that piece of land in the football club.”

After being made chairman only ten days ago Mr Barling visited residents to address the problem.

However, Mr Barling said: “We need to address more facilities for young people in Steyning.”
