Over £200 was raised by car washing scouts despite the wet weather over the weekend.

The 2nd Steyning troop were stationed at Mayberry Garden Centre, offering their services with a bucket and sponge to customers to the Portslade store.

This is the second time the youth group have taken part in the event. Jayne Michalska, leader of the scout group, thanked the garden centre, and its customers.

“On behalf of 2nd Steyning Scout Group I would like to say a massive thank you to you and all the staff for allowing us to, once again, take part in the charity car wash.

“We washed 40 cars and made more than last year. The money will be put towards our summer camp activities that will be in Ferny Crofts in the New Forest this year.

“I can’t believe that we did so well in the rain! The kids were cold and wet through, but they all certainly had fun.”
